The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provided a mechanized borehole and grinding mill to alleviate a water shortage situation at the Jukwa Senior High School. The project was funded by LDS Charities, the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Jukwa Senior High School will be celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Since it was founded in the Central Region of Ghana, it has suffered from a lack of water. As a result, students would have to walk many kilometers to access clean water, which was at a stream found across a major highway. But, this meant dangerously crossing this highway, which is prone to accidents.
Students would also use runoff water that collected under a big drainage near the road side. The water was unsafe for drinking, but it could be used for domestic use.
LDS Charities heard about the Lack of water in the Jukwa Senior High School in February of 2015. By June of that same year, the project was approved and work started in June 2015.
The school received the finished project on 19 March 2016 on the school’s speech and awards day. Elder Ben Davies, a local church leader, and Chief Osiahene Oduro – Appako II turned over the project to the school. The headmaster, Mr. Ernest E. A. Nove, expressed his gratitude. The District Director of Ghana Water and Sewage Company was also in attendance.
